DAY 2 – DISCOVERY OF THE MARGERIDE AND THE CHARPAL LAKE

The Margeride offers a hilly playground with passes over 1500 m (5000 ft) and remarquable viewpoints over the region. The routes vary, alternating between gravel roads and trails. We will go from the shade of great pine forests to clear landscapes, marked by granite chaos and heather lands. Return to the guest house at the end of the day.

  • Total Distance : 45km (28 miles)
  • Ascending elevation : 690m (2200ft)
  • Descending elevation : 690m (2200ft)

DAY 3 – DISCOVERY OF THE GORGES DU TARN

After breakfast, short transfer to the heart of the Gorges du Tarn for a beautiful mountain biking day! The river Tarn has its sources at 1600 m (5200 ft) by the Mont Lozère. Over millennia, the river created a deep breach between the Méjean and Sauveterre plateaus: a true canyon has been sculpted in the limestone massif of the Grands Causses. Our itinerary will lead us along the river by taking a portion of the Stevenson trail.

  • Total Distance : 31km (19 miles)
  • Ascending elevation : 555m (1800ft)
  • Descending elevation : 555m (1800ft)
  • Accommodation : Guest house

DAY 4 – END OF THE STAY AFTER BREAKFAST

End of the stay after breakfast, possibility to extend your stay. Please, contact us.

House guest ‘Les Granges du Hameau’ (8 km/5 miles away from Mende), double/twin room.
This accommodation, at over 1000 m (3000ft) on the hill only 8 km (5 miles) away from Mende, offers a wonderful view over the valley. The welcoming dining room, the living room with its impressive fireplace, stone walls and the lauze roofs kept the authenticity of old stone barns.

The renovation of this old building full of history allowed the association of modern comfort and neat decoration with the possibility to use a swimming pool and a jacuzzi in an annex only 100 m (300 ft) away.
